"If the drive (or the lines) at The Maltby Cafe daunt you, turn onto old Main
Street in downtown Bothell. Alexa's has similar downhome ambience, generous
portions and occasional precious touches like the tea-bag basket that
accompanies boiling water -- a selection of perhaps 20 varieties."

In the heart of Bothell, on Main Street, Leigh Henderson has grown what started
out as a catering business some 13 years ago into a thriving cafe that has
become a gathering place for many. Alexa's Cafe, named after Henderson's
daughter, is best known for comfort food served in large portions and
conversations among good friends. The Cafe is rich with 1927 brick walls &
white wainscoting. Seating is spaced nicely for private conversations with
clients, family or friends. The motivation behind the design was to bring the
essence of home to a place where people could share memories and greatfood.
"Alexa's serves uncomplicated foods," shares Henderson, who adds that the
emphasis is alwayson fresh, always on "realfood/A favorite among the lunch
crowd is the tomato basil soup. Another signature item is the Bite Me Brownies.
The Henderson's recipe was developed in 1992 in the test kitchen, and has
served thousands through catering and the cafe. The breakfast menu is presented
until noon on weekdays, all day on weekends and highlighted with a selection of
scrambles, pancakes, and oatmeals with multiple toppings. The lunch menu offers
an assortment of sandwiches and burgers, plus daily homemade soups and salads.
Be sure to save room for dessert, because along with the famous brownies are an
array of other fresh homemade creations.
Alexa's Cafe is well known in the community for their catering services, and
the staff can accommodate any size party-from 50 to 2000. Henderson even grows
her own flowers for wedding caterings. Pick-up catering services are available
for smaller functions, such as an intimate dinner party at home or a business
lunch meeting. Call for pre-arrangements.
